Biography

Myrick Coil is a man who wears many hats. He is a mechanic, shop foreman at Missouri's renowned Performance Boat Center, multiple World Champion offshore boat racer, avid fisherman, Speedboat Magazine test team driver, husband to Missi, and father of four small children.

Originally from Mackinaw, IL, Coil moved to the Lake of the Ozarks in 2000. He was working as a swimming pool installer and electrician on grain elevators in Central Illinois when a friend got him interested in the world-famous Shootout. The experience left him so enthusiastic about powerboating that he vowed to do whatever it took to get involved in that world. So it was off to tech school, where he took up studies at a marine training facility called the Lake Career and Technical Center in Camdenton. While in school, he also worked on a variety of boats and engines at a shop called Advanced Marine. Upon completing his education on all boat and engine types and doing extremely well - he competed in a Vocational Institute Clubs of America competition in mechanics and took first place in the national division.

Myrick and teammate Tyler Miller won both the 2022 RWO UIM World Championship Title and the 2022 APBA Super Cat National Championship in the M CON Super Cat class boat. Myrick also races with Rusty Williams in the Super Stock boat Performance Boat Center / FASS Diesel Fuel Systems. Myrick and Tyler were inducted into the APBA Hall of Champions in Jan 2023.

2023 saw Myrick add Class 1 to the mix. Myrick and Tyler raced a brand new M CON 43-foot Skater in Class 1 during 2023 initially it took time to bed in the new boat, however they ended the 2023 Championship in fourth place.

They started 2024 with new stern drives and a much more impressive results, Myrick and Tyler were on the podium for all the races, bar one. The cancellation of the Monster Energy St Pete Powerboat Grand Prix due to the after-effects of Hurricane Milton brought the season to a premature close in October 2024, Leaving Myrick and Tyler UIM Class 1 World Champions.
