Johnny Tomlinson lives and breathes powerboats. He is lauded by his peers and one of, if not the, most successful and decorated racers of the modern era in a career that extends over five decades.
Since his racing debut in the APBA Open class in 1986 in the USA he has dominated the powerboat scene on home waters. He backed his growing reputation as a fearsome throttleman in 1997, crossing the Atlantic to make his UIM Class 1 debut to team-up with Laith Pharaon in Jolly Motor, winning four out of eight races to lift the World and European Championships. He repeated the feat in 2015 winning the world title with Team Abu Dhabi alongside Gary Ballough, the duo finishing runners-up the following year.
His title successes and victories since his first win in 1986 and national title in 1990 in the USA is unparalleled and unlikely to be matched. In a racing career spanning 37 years he has amassed over 150 wins across multiple classes, lifting over 50 APBA, SBI, OSS and RWO national and world titles.
He is the co-owner of Miami-based TNT Custom Marine and has rubbed shoulders with a raft of Hollywood A listers working on blockbuster movies such as Bad Boys, Miami Vice, Beach Bums and Speed Kills.
