Biography

Darren is one of the few sportsmen to switch over from sail power to horsepower. He won the 505 World Championship with his brother Chris three times and came second in the Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, Darren is one of the few sportsmen to switch over from sail power to horsepower. He is a multiple AUS 1 Championship winner in the Australian Offshore Superboat Championships. He has more wins than any Australian in the UIM Class One Championship in Europe & the Middle East with 2 wins & several podium finishes. He won the 'Lion of the Sea' endurance race, Europe's oldest powerboat race from Venice to Monte Carlo, over 1,400 nautical miles.

He also was a second-place winner in 2 rounds of the New Zealand Offshore Powerboat Championships. Darren has also won Multiple National Championships.

Offshore Career Highlights

  • 2019 222 Offshore Australia finished 2nd in the inaugural 2019 Class One USA Championship.
  • 2019 222 Offshore are the current AUS 1 Champions and Supercat Extreme Champions (Australian Offshore Superboat Championships).
  • 2017 Darren entered the XCAT World Championships in 2017 with his team 222 Offshore and received multiple podium finishes.
  • 2016 Darren competed in the 7 rounds of the New Zealand Offshore Powerboat Series as well as the Australian Offshore Superboat Championships.
  • 2016 Darren's Australian Team, 222 Offshore, conducted a promotion in October 2016 alongside ex-Australian cricketer Michael Clarke and Supermodel Jennifer Hawkins. Michael piloted the Class One Superboat and reached over 200km/hr.
  • 2015 In August 2015 Darren was invited to race for the Fendi Team in the Gold Coast (Australia) XCAT's in which he won the speed record.
  • 2015 In November 2015, Darren competed in Abu Dhabi Class One Series for the Victory Team alongside Matteo Nicolini.
  • 2014 Rejoined the Fendi Team to pilot their T-Bone Station XCAT in Dubai, in which they won both speed runs and placed 2nd in one of the races.
