The Sudrheim team has considerable experience of offshore powerboat racing at the highest level, with almost everyone having been a member of the legendary Spirit of Norway team which made its Class 1 debut in 1997 and won five world titles, including three consecutively. Team owner and driver Ove Trøen commented: “I’m proud to have put together a talented and vastly experienced team that includes throttleman Pål Virik Nilsen, technical director Rolf Arnestad and consultant Gro Helgesen.
Trøen and Virik Nilsen will compete in a 43-foot Victory catamaran that was originally raced by the Qatar team. It will have undergone a complete rebuild with new Mercury Racing V8 1100 Competition engines before moving to the team workshop at the end of January. The Norwegian team will be based at Sanford in Central Florida.
