Last Year, 222 Offshore with Giovanni Carpitella on throttles, and team owner Darren Nicholson driving, won the UIM Class 1 title at Michigan City and came second in the UIM Class 1 Powerboat Racing Championship for 2023. It was their first outing since 2019 due to the impact of COVID on sport and travel restrictions. The 47’ Victory was built in 2008 and first raced in the US in the 2019 season.

Despite the two-year lay-off, the boat performed well under the careful management of Crew Chief Peter “Muddy” McGrath. Muddy stood in as driver for Darren to win with Giovanni at Clearwater.

Darren and Giovanni are a successful pairing in UIM X-Cat racing in the Middle East.
