Biography

Chris started racing in National A Class 1 (New Zealand) in 1997. He raced in this class for two years and won the Championship in both seasons.

In 1999 he travelled to the US and was crew chief for Virgin Racing, which went on to win several national and world titles. During this time, he drove in various races and also raced with other teams.

Chris returned to New Zealand to race in his own 6 litre Class 3 boat in 2003 and 2004, and he won the series in both years. He returned to the US to work and race for Bacardi Silver in 2004, and in 2005 won the Superboat Unlimited Class National Title.

2006-2007 saw Chris racing Super Cat Light with Reliable Carriers before heading back to New Zealand again at the end of 2007. Over the next 8 years, racing with three different teams, Chris won NZ1 five times. He also raced Superboat in Australia with Global Racing and won AUS 1 in 2014.

He returned to the US in 2015 to race in the Unlimited class again, this time with Speed Racer. He also raced with Wayne Valder with Pro Floors in Super Cat from 2017 to 2019. He also raced with other Super Cat teams including Broadco.

COVID had a tremendous impact on the sport with travel restrictions introduced in New Zealand, as in other countries.

In 2022 the restrictions had lifted and Chris returned to the US to team up with Mike Falco. He played a key role in getting the Defalco Racing boat ready for the Key West Class 1 race in November 2022 and just missed a podium, coming fourth.

Chris is looking forward to racing the full UIM Class 1 Championship in 2023.
